Exhibition: “A Life Committed to Literature”

dinekov_thumb.jpgOn October 20, 2010 (Wednesday) in the lobby of the University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” was opened the jubilee exhibition “A Life Committed to Literature”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the remarkable Bulgarian literary critic, folklorist, historian and university lecturer - Acad. Petar Dinekov.

dinekov_plakat_1.jpgThe exhibition was officially opened by Anna Angelova, Ph. D., director of the University Library. Acad. Dinekov’s former students Prof. Kiril Topalov and Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Yanakieva delivered speeches on his personality and scientific work.
dinekov_snimka_2.jpgThe exhibited items aim to represent a small part of the enormous creative work of Acad. Petar Dinekov, which numbers 1,827 literature units. Special attention is paid to his research on Old Bulgarian, Medieval, Bulgarian National Revival and Modern Bulgarian Literature as well as on Bulgarian Folklore. The displayed items cover also his survey articles on Bulgarian and foreign poets, writers and researchers; Bulgarian literature from the age of the Bulgarian National Revival and literary history of Sofia; Bulgarian cultural events and last but not least - university textbooks and readers, most of which having tens of publications. The scientific heritage of Acad. Petar Dinekov is illustrated with interesting photographs depicting 60 years of his research activity.
