Bulgarian first-print and old-print editions

The University Library has a rich collection of Bulgarian old-print editions (1806-1878). The collection is representative for the print production of Bulgarian authors from the age of the National revival and consists of approx. 1,600 titles – books, old-print newspapers and periodicals. The main part of the collection includes educational and theological literature, translations and original fiction.  The library maintains first editions of the most renowned authors from that age - Sophronius of Vratsa, Neophyte Rilski, Dr. Petar Beron, G.S. Rakovski, L. Karavelov, Hristo Botev, Ivan Vazov and others. The process of digitizing the collection is planned according to the academic plans of the respective faculties and a focus is put on various alphabetical books, grammars and textbooks, separate fiction editions, as well as unique editions with autographs, inscriptions for donation, and dedication notes.
