“Literature is not a museum”

On the 24th of May, an installation, part of the campaign “Literature is not a museum”, was exhibited in front of the Central University Library – an initiative of the Faculty of Slavic Studies, which draws public attention towards the need to modernize the curriculum in Literature.

Using a QR code, located on the pages of the two-meter book, anyone can suggest a work that they think deserves to be included in the curriculum. The idea is to give a voice to readers – students, teachers, parents, citizens – and to show that literature is living, breathing and relevant, and that is exactly how young people need to see it as in order to love reading. Children who read with passion will be the adults who think critically, express themselves confidently, respect differences and understand both themselves and others.

On the 3rd of June at 11:00 am at the Central Foyer of the Rectorate, the exhibition of the same name “Literature is not a museum” will be opened with the participation of contemporary Bulgarian authors, including Teodora Dimova, Georgi Gospodinov, Amelia Licheva, Dean Enev, Zdravka Evtimova and others. The official opening of the installation will then also take place. It will remain in front of the University Library until the end of June 2025.
