On 7th of October, 2025, a cooperation agreement was signed between Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius.” The agreement establishes that the National Library will grant Sofia University the right to use digital copies of 167 Slavic manuscripts and fragments, which will be included in the Zograf Electronic Research Library.
The meeting was attended by the rector of Alma Mater, Prof. Georgi Valchev, the director of the National Library, Assoc. Prof. Kalina Ivanova, the director of the University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Assoc. Prof. Bilyana Yavrukova, Vanya Avramova, PhD, Deputy Director of the National Library and Prof. Andrey Boyadzhiev, Head of the Department of Cyril and Methodius Studies at the Faculty of Slavic Studies at Sofia University. They expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation between the two institutions and discussed the work on the digitalization and preservation of the valuable manuscripts, included in the Zograf Electronic Research Library.
With the addition of the manuscripts provided by the National Library, researchers and students can now access 913 manuscripts in the Zograf Room, the originals of which are kept in 17 monasteries, museums and libraries.
