Exhibition by the University Library to mark the 140th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Asen Zlatarov
The University Library presents an exhibition, dedicated to one of Sofia University’s most renowned lecturers, Prof. Asen Zlatarov. The scholar, with his profound knowledge in the fields of chemistry, biology, physics, medicine, philosophy and literature, demonstrated through his work that science, arts and culture should serve humanity and be the foundation for the development of its creative powers.
The exhibition includes books and periodicals that are part of Prof. Asen Zlatarov’s diverse work, with an emphasis on his scientific publications and philosophical works which are aimed at young people. The central display cases contain textbooks and scientific works in the fields in which he worked: nutrition science, enzymochemistry, plant stimulation and synthetic organic chemistry. Literary works, key publications on social issues, speeches and lectures are also on display. There are foreign-language publications and books for which Prof. Asen Zlatarov is the author of the forewords and extensive introductory texts. Some of the publications have dedications from the author.
The exhibition is located in the lobby of the Central University Library and can be viewed until the end of October 2025.
