The library at the Faculty of Physics was established in 1889. It is among the oldest branch libraries within the University Library Network. Later its collections were merged with the collections of the Library of Astronomy at the Astronomical Observatory, established in 1894. Prof. Minko Balkanski, a famous physicist and an educational reformer, has been one of its biggest donors.

Today the library has valuable collections of books and serials in all branches of physics and astronomy. Its collections consist of over 80,700 library items (books, serials, encyclopedias, rare and valuable editions in Astronomy, e- resources). It has 36 reading places, including 3 computerized workstations.
