Services for readers with special educational needs

The University Library provides digitization of educational resources to visually impaired readers. They may request and receive educational materials electronically. The library services for visually disabled users include: document digitization, optical character recognition (OCR), text editing so it can be read with a specialized software. Digitized library materials are sent by email and are available in a specialized digital collection titled “Main literature for readers with special educational needs”. It is accessible at: http://unilib-dspace.nasledstvo.bg/dsplogin/groups/. This collection is available to all students and graduates with disabilities of Sofia University. 

For copyright protection unauthorized access to this collection is restricted through username and password.  Readers with special needs may request library materials and access details by email mediateka@libsu.uni-sofia.bg

The Specialized Reading Room designed for visually impaired readers is located in the Central University Library building and is equipped with a Braille printer and display, computer equipment, and software designed for specialized access to variety of electronic resources. The entrance to the Specialized Reading Room is through the University Library parking lot. 

The University Library issues free of charge annual reader card to all users with disabilities.
