Sofia University Library provides interlibrary loan and document delivery services to faculty members, Ph. D. students, and students of Sofia University. Library users may request for temporary use library materials (books and articles from serials and collections) from foreign and Bulgarian libraries, which are not owned by the University Library. The Interlibrary loan procedure is based on the Library Rules of Service.
Users must have a valid library user card to submit an interlibrary loan request, and they have to provide relevant bibliographic data for the requested documents. Materials received by interlibrary loan can be consulted only in the reading rooms of the Central University Library for a limited period of time determined by the providing library. Users must check the availability of needed materials before submitting an interlibrary loan request in the e-catalog of Sofia University Library, other library catalogs, and in the union catalog NALIS.
Limit of interlibrary loan requests. Sofia University faculty members, Ph. D. students, and students can submit an interlibrary loan request for up to 3 books and up to 5 articles within one academic year.
Delivery time for interlibrary loan requests. The delivery time of loans depends on the type of requested materials and the borrowing institution – approximately two to four weeks.
University library users will be notified by email when requested materials are received at the library.
