The library at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy was established in 1948, based on collections maintained by professors in various academic disciplines. Prof. Dimitar Ivanov made the largest contribution to the systematic acquisition of new books and serials and to its transformation into a major research library around 1961. At present, the library’s rich collections, as well as the variety and quality of the provided library and informantion services, make the Chemistry and Pharmacy Library one of the leading branch libraries within Sofia University Library Network. The library is the fourth largest branch in the structure of the University Library. It maintains rich collection of serials and rare reference books in the field of chemical science, currently acquired with the support of the German publisher Springer.
Library collections are over 63,900 library items (books, encyclopedias, serials, reference editions, electronic resources). The library has 70 reading places, including 8 computerized workstations.
