Issuing remote access certificates (outside of the computer network of Sofia University)

The Central and Eastern European Online Library is a repository which provides full-text access to scientific publications in the field of humanities and social sciences from and for Central and Eastern Europe. The collections include articles from serials, books, parts of e-books, conference proceedings, reviews, and “gray literature” (reports, cases, etc.) in over 50 languages.

Faculties, PhD students and students of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” can also use CEEOL remotely via institutional access. Username and password for SUSI are required. Instructions for remote access can be found HERE.

Terms of use according to the license agreement between CEEOL and Sofia University (Annex 1, item 2.3) Prohibited:
1. The systematic downloading of content without the explicit approval of CEEOL.
2. The use of computer programs that automatically download content, known as web robots, etc.
3. Copying the digital code onto another machine, whether it is ASCII or tagged and using the CEEOL content by a third party or organization.

* When such unauthorized actions are detected, the IP address from which they are performed will be blocked.

De Gruyter Publishing is represented by the following 2 collections, De Gruyter Complete Journal Package and De Gruyter eBook Imprints only.

De Gruyter Complete Journal Package is a collection of peer-reviewed scientific journals published by De Gruyter and partner publishers. The journals are in the fields of medicine, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. The subscription includes access to all issues of the journals since 1995. De Gruyter eBook is a multidisciplinary collection of eBooks published by De Gruyter and by partner publishers.

EBSCO

The EBSCOhost platform is presented with the following databases: Academic Search Ultimate, eBook Academic Collection, Health Source – Consumer Edition, AHFS Consumer Medication Information, GreenFILE, European Views of the Americas: 1493 to 1750, Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts, Teacher Reference Center, OpenDissertations.

Academic Search Ultimate is a multidisciplinary full-text database, which includes scientific peer-reviewed periodicals, as well as reports, conference proceedings, reviews, and videos. The eBook Academic Collection contains over 250,000 e-book titles by leading publishers in all scientific fields.
Business Source Complete provides access to over 1,800 full-text magazines in areas such as accounting, finance, management, marketing and more.

The access is obtained through the interface: https://search.ebscohost.com/, where you have to mark the databases in which you want to search. There is a built-in dictionary with keywords and good filtering options to help with your search. EBSCO provides remote access to users through individual registration, which is initially done on the Sofia University campus with an institutional email and personal password. All additional resources can be used with the same account.

JSTOR

JSTOR is a multidisciplinary digital library which includes publications in the following fields: regional studies, arts, business and economics, history, humanities, law, medicine and health, natural sciences, applied sciences and mathematics, social sciences and interdisciplinary fields of knowledge. The collections include articles from peer-reviewed scientific journals and book chapters, some of which are open access. Remote access is temporarily unavailable.

Oxford Publishing is presented with the following databases: Oxford Scholarship Online, University Press Scholarship Online and Oxford Handbooks Online. The databases can be accessed from https://academic.oup.com/

The Oxford Journals Collection (1996-2025) database contains peer-reviewed scholarly journals published by Oxford University Press. They are divided into 5 thematic collections in the following fields: Humanities and Arts, Social Sciences, Law, Medicine and Health, Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

The Oxford Scholarship Online database is a multidisciplinary database of academic publications published by Oxford University Press.

The University Press Scholarship Online database is a multidisciplinary database of academic publications of over 25 university presses of leading universities incl. Stanford, Princeton, Yale, etc.

The Oxford Handbooks Online database is a multidisciplinary database containing the most prestigious and used guides and handbooks.

Faculty, Ph.D. students and students of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” can use Oxford and remotely via institutional access. For this purpose, the username and password for the SUSI are used.

Taylor & Francis eBooks is a multidisciplinary collection of eBooks in the fields of applied sciences, technology, engineering, medicine, humanities and social sciences. The subscription is for the core collection of titles. Taylor & Francis eBooks provides two options for remote access – through institutional access and the SUSI username and password, or through individual registration with an institutional email, which is initially done from a device connected to the university’s Internet network.

The AIP Publishing of the American Institute of Physics (AIP) provides full-text access to scientific journals, many of which are peer-reviewed, in the field of physics and its interdisciplinary fields.
The platform can also be used remotely via institutional access with institutional email.

APS Physics is a database platform, consisting of Physical Review Journals, published by the American Physical Society (APS). Most of them are peer-reviewed journals with access to full-text articles. The platform includes the following journals: Physical Review Letters, Physical Review X (general and applied physics, interdisciplinary physics), Reviews of Modern Physics, Physical Review A (atomic, molecular and optical physics; quantum information), Physical Review B (condensed matter and physics of materials), Physical Review C (experimental and nuclear physics), Physical Review D (particle physics, field theory, gravity and cosmology), Physical Review E (statistical, nonlinear, biological physics and soft matter physics: fluids, polymers, liquid crystals and granular materials), Physical Review Research, Physical Review Accelerators and Beams, Physical Review Applied, Physical Review Fluids, Physical Review Materials, Physical Review, Physics Education Research, Physics.

BioOne Digital Library is a platform that includes peer-reviewed journals in the fields of ecology, environment, biology, biodiversity conservation, zoology, geology and paleontology.

IOP Publishing is one of the world’s leading publishers in physics. It publishes over 70 full text open-access and hybrid journals, distributed across 15 subject collections: astronomy and physics; atomic and molecular physics; biomedical engineering; condensed matter; education; engineering; environment and energy; instrumentation and measurement; materials; mathematics and computation; medical physics and biophysics; optics and photonics; particle and nuclear physics; plasma; quantum physics. Faculties, PhD students and students of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” can also access the platform remotely. Therefor, individual registration is required, which is initially performed on the territory of Sofia University and is carried out using an institutional email. Guidelines for using the database.

Reaxys is an Elsevier`s database, where the Reaxys Medicinal Chemistry collection is integrated. These contain resources in the fields of chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Reaxys indexes peer-reviewed periodicals and patents in organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry from 1771 to the present. Its uniqueness lies in its structural search capability and in providing data on chemical structures, properties, reactions and synthesis of compounds. Reaxys includes the Beilstein, Gmelin, PubMed, eMolecules, LabNetwork and Sigma-Aldrich databases.

Sketch engine is a lexicographic database, containing more than 800 corpora in over 100 languages. Each corpus contains up to 80 billion words. It is a tool for exploring the application of language, providing the ability to identify word usage and their correct usage through examples. You can use the database via institutional access with individual registration, using an institutional email address.

Statista provides statistical data, reports, forecasts, surveys, infographics and research studies, market insights and business plans that can be downloaded in all formats. The resource can only be used for non-commercial purposes. Access is available via devices connected to the University’s Internet network. Faculty, Ph.D. students and students of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” can use the Statista platform and remotely via institutional access.

Zootaxa is an international scientific mega-journal, specializing in zoological taxonomy. The journal is recognized for its significant contribution to the study and discovery of biodiversity. From 2001 to 2020, Zootaxa published descriptions of over 60,000 new species, representing approximately 25% of all new taxa indexed in The Zoological Record during this period. The subscription includes access to issues published in 2025.
