In 1992, after the re-establishment of the Theological Faculty, the library became Sofia University branch library.

Today the library rich holdings contain 79,000 library items (books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, audio and video tapes, music scores) in the field of theology, philosophy and history. It stores a rich collection of rare and valuable books - old printed Bulgarian, Russian, Serbian and Greek books, periodicals from the age of the Bulgarian National Revival, rare editions of the Old and New Testaments in various languages and other valuable editions. It also stores donated personal libraries of eminent scholars in the field of theology – Bulgarian Exarch Joseph I, Patriarch Cyril of Bulgaria, Archpriest Prof. Stefan Tsankov, Prof. Vasil Pandurski, Protoiereus Ivan Goshev, Prof. Gancho Pashev and others.

Since 1998 within the Theological Library’s premises functions the Biblical Studies Reading Room - a joint project of the Faculty of Theology and the Society for New Testament Studies (SNTS).

The library has 62 reading places, of which 2 PC workstations (33 – Student Reading Room, 19 - Faculty Reading Room, 10 – Patristics and Byzantine Studies Reading Room).
