Visiting Exhibition "Bulgarian Embroidery Through the Ages"


shevici_thumb1.jpgBetween 14-22 November 2009 within the program to celebrate the Day of Sofia, organized in the City Hall of the commune Clichy-la-Garenne, Paris, Sofia University Library "St. Kliment Ohridski" presented the exhibition "La broderie nationale bulgare a travers les siecles" ("Bulgarian Embroidery Through the Ages").

shevici_plakat_11.jpgThe exhibition is part of the initiatives representing Bulgarian culture and education initiated under the Agreement for cooperation between Sofia University Library and Clichy-la-Garenne Media Library, and introduces the history, development and regionalization of Bulgarian embroidery with images of costumes from different parts of Bulgaria.   
 
shevici_snimka_3.jpgThe opening of the exhibition was attended by Ms. Diana Ignatova, Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Centre in Paris, and Ms. Maria Shopova, Counselor of Cultural Affairs and Francophonie at the Embassy of Bulgaria in France.   
 
Dimitar Veselinov, Professor at the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, Sofia University, delivered the report "Bulgaria through the Eyes of French Travelers (XVI-XIX century)".
